The Lancaster man was kayaking with friends when "he appears to have had a medical event," on Thursday, June 13, according to the coroner's release.
A life jacket was reportedly on the boat but was not on the man when he was found shortly after 9 p.m., officials explained.
"The Coroner’s Office is now working to ensure that all family members are notified before releasing his name," Dauphin County Press Secretary Diane McNaughton said.
The man's autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18.
This fatal incident is still under investigation.
